Everyone needs a few no-brainer meals to get through those days when all our brain cells are used up by 3pm. This seasoning is what makes several of my no-brainers work:

Recipe: 1 cup Kosher salt, 1/4c black pepper, 1/4c garlic powder, 1/4c onion powder. Shake it up and done! To make it even more of a no-brainer I keep the recipe written on the lid of the container.

Where to use it?

  • See those veggies behind my ingredients? I chopped them up (not the tomatoes!), drizzled them with olive oil and sprinkled 1-1.5tsp of seasoning on them. Roast at 450 for 30m (fresh) or 45m (frozen), flipping once. Viola! This works great with broccoli, potatoes, onions, carrots, an root veggie, egg plant, cauliflower, garlic and squash.
  • Grilled chicken + olive oil + seasoning + soy sauce. Let it marinate for a bit and grill it up!
  • Kid want french fries? Cut up white or sweet potatoes, coat with olive oil and some seasoning and roast for 30m at 450, flipping once.
  • If you want to add flavor to sauteed veggies, curries, stir fries, eggs, pasta or spaghetti squash this no-brainer season is wonderful.

Enjoy!

PS I believe I originally found this recipe on a Paula Deen years ago. It was a ‘special spice blend’ that cost quite a bit. This costs less than 1$ for each batch. 🙂
