It’s officially summer today and EVERYTHING delicious is in season! Berries, greens, melons, tomatoes, onions, peaches, grapes…the produce section and farmers market are beautiful places to be right now!
But even in this season of plenty, can you guess the #1 nutritional challenge most of us face?
Eating at least 5 servings of produce a day.
By a landslide.
If you struggle with consistency in this area, you’re not alone! So what if we joined forces to eat delicious food that would nourish our bodies and help us meet our personal goals? THAT sounds like a challenge worth taking! And I can tell you what will happen (because I’ve seen it time and again with my clients and groups)…we encourage each other, experiment with new foods and make way more progress as a team than we typically do on our own.
The 146 Challenge:
Eat 146 servings of produce in the month of July. That works out to 5 servings on weekdays and 4 servings on the weekends. Why less on the weekends? Because they are notorious for making healthy choices a little harder. 4 servings gives us a little wiggle room, but keeps us accountable.
What if I miss a serving (or 5)? Can I catch up?
Yep! We’re all about Progress, NOT Perfection around here! Real life happens and sometimes we miss a serving. Just make it up on another day. Smoothies, salads, stir fries and roasted veggies are a great way to sneak in another serving because it makes the produce softer and easier to eat.
Will I need to buy specific foods or supplements?
NOPE! I’ll offer recipe ideas, but we’re keeping this simple. We’re focusing on eating real food from normal stores. Do you love spinach but hate broccoli? Fine…eat spinach! Like your veggies roasted, but not raw? That’s fine…roast away! We’ll emphasize in-season food so it’s delicious, inexpensive and easy to find.
Sounds great! How can I join?
Glad you asked. 🙂 Just comment on the Thrive Facebook page or email me at kim@thrivenutrition.life. I’ll add you to our private Facebook page, give you a link to a progress sheet (so you can keep track of all those servings) and you’re good to go! And grab a friend/family member who will do this with you…the only thing better than online encouragement is in-person encouragement. 🙂
Wait a minute…How much does this cost?
NOTHING! It’s FREE. I love doing these challenges because it helps all of us and I always learn something new from the ladies who participate! I have 2-3 spots in my 1-on-1 online nutrition coaching program opening up later this summer and you’ll get info on those spots before the public. That’s it…no pressure to buy anything for the challenge or after.
