As I read the info gathered from each state I was struck by list of struggles that are now considered ‘normal’: obesity, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, cancer. The list of causes was equally discouraging…not because they’re insurmountable or unavoidable, but precisely because they AREN’T. For each state that has adults, teens and children suffering from painful and debilitating diseases, the causes were: not eating fruits and vegetables, inactivity and the fact that people are becoming blind to the fact that these behavior aren’t normal. We’re all so used to eating food that isn’t really food and sitting all day that we think we’re eating healthy and living an active life. Our bodies are telling us the truth.

We all know someone who has slid down this path of illness. Some of us are that person. We didn’t do it on purpose and we aren’t happy with where we find ourselves…but what do we do now when changing seems so hard?

The answer is simple…but not easy. We eat more real foods (things that were grown or raised) and we move more. Easy to say, hard to do consistently. That’s where accountability comes in. Anyone who has won this battle will tell you they ended up with a tribe of people/resources around them that encouraged them on the journey. Co-workers who walk with you at lunch, friends who meet you at the gym or for a run, family who offers to try some new foods, podcast and magazines about healthy living and online groups to push you to keep trying.

If you find yourself wanting to change, but without a ‘tribe’ right now, Thrive Nutrition 1-on-1 online coaching might be right for you. We work as a team to take daily, sustainable steps toward health. I check in with you when you’re struggling and cheer when you succeed. Once we’ve laid a foundation of what it looks like to make healthy choices in your life (which will look different for each person), we work on building your tribe so you don’t need me by the end of our time together. My goal is to work myself out of job. 🙂 This kind of coaching can run you hundreds of dollars a month, but I keep my prices low so that health is not something out of reach for normal people…just $80/month.

If you’re ready to take the first step toward a healthier YOU or have questions I’d love to hear from you. Just click on the link below for more info…

Hi, my name is Kim. I live in Iowa with my husband and five kids. I have a bachelor’s in biology and a masters in science education, both from the university of Iowa. My days are not empty and our life is anything but boring.
